Facebook and Divorce

Serving Union and Mecklenburg Counties including Weddington and Matthews

If you are going through a divorce or custody battle, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and other social media outlets can be used against you. If you have a Facebook account and are in the midst of a family law case, don't post anything you don't want your judge to see. This includes status updates, posts about the situation to your friend's pages and photographs. Also, make sure you have the privacy settings in place so that you can control who has access to your information.

Have a family law issue? Contact Epperson Law PLLC in Weddington, North Carolina, at 704-288-1359, toll free at 888-805-8163, and schedule a consultation with an attorney experienced in family law issues in Union/Mecklenburg County.

I have been handling divorce cases for approximately 20 years. Recently I have seen a lot of people's Facebook accounts being used as evidence against them at trial. Protect yourself and watch what you say and do on Facebook.

Facebook and Your Children

My suggestion is to deactivate your social media accounts if you are going through a divorce or other family law matter. But if you choose to keep them up, then I suggest not putting up pictures of your children on Facebook. Some judges don't like children's pictures on Facebook and may hold it against you.
