Prison sentence handed to woman for failing to pay child support

Often, when you hear of someone not paying their child support, it is easy to assume that the guilty parent is the father. However, women are also sometimes ordered to pay child support, given the fact that there are many successful business women in Ballantyne who make more than their domestic partners or spouses. And, just like their male counterparts, sometimes women fail to meet their legal obligations, resulting in a family law dispute.

Domestic violence is a severe problem in our society. While most people in Ballantyne may assume that only poorer neighborhoods struggle with domestic problems, these kinds of events are found in wealthy families as well. Domestic violence has been said to be really about control and anger, endangering the lives of spouses, domestic partners, and children. No form of this kind of violence should be tolerated, whether it is emotional abuse, intimidation, sexual violence or physical action.

When the end of a marriage approaches, generally both spouses in Ballantyne want to get the legal proceedings over with so that they can continue forward in their lives. The divorce process however, can sometimes be a lengthy one, especially if there are disagreements over which parent the children should live with, how much should be paid in terms of support and dividing up the bank accounts and financial assets.

Part of the legal separation process for couples in Ballantyne with children is to determine child support payments. These are generally monthly payments designed to pay for children's needs such as clothing, food, shelter and education. When a child support obligation amount is decided upon, it then falls upon the spouse to pay that amount. If a spouse fails to make payments then that spouse may find themselves called back into court.
