Jon Cryer's ex-wife seeks more child support

Many people believe that when child custody and support are decided during the process of a divorce in North Carolina, those arrangements will never change. However, as circumstances change through employment, location and other family-related situations, there is often need to amend the arrangements. When child custody is altered, this can have a direct effect on the amount of child support that is required.

This issue is at the center of a battle between Actor Jon Cryer and his ex-wife, Sarah Trigger who were married for five years and separated in 2004. In the past, she has had four percent custody of their 13-year-old son and receives $8,000 a month in child support. Her amount of custody has recently gone up to 50 percent, but the amount of child support she receives has remained the same.

Trigger, who is currently unemployed, argues that because she has the boy half the time now, the amount of child support she receives should be raised to almost $90,000 a month. She says that it is not fair for the boy to spend half his time in an affluent lifestyle with his father and half the time in a totally different lifestyle with her. She feels likes she is unable to provide him with the same things to which his peers at his prestigious school have access.

If your circumstances have changed since child support and child custody was decided during your divorce, you may wish to speak with a family law attorney to discuss your options.
