Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman's speedy divorce

Drew Barrymore formalized her divorce from Will Kopelman by filing divorce papers on July 15. Her husband followed suit by filing divorce papers on July 18. Fortunately, both Will and Drew wanted to their divorce to be uncontested and they made every effort to resolve it peacefully and quickly. Just three weeks later, on Aug. 3, they achieved their goal and finalized the divorce process without needing to appear in court.

Immediately after Drew filed her divorce papers last month, news outlets reported that she and her then husband planned for a peaceful breakup and they did not want to partake in a contentious battle over assets or their two young daughters. The couple has two girls, aged 2 and 3, together.

This is not 41-year-old Drew's first divorce, but rather, it is her third. Perhaps the experience of having been through the process multiple times before gave her the experience she needed to navigate the instant divorce in a peaceful way. Clearly, her 39-year-old ex-husband was in agreement, or they would not have succeeded in finalizing their divorce in just three weeks.

The couple says that their girls are their priority, and they will stay friends in the years to come. They even said that divorce will not get in the way of their being a family, highlighting that life goes on after divorce. They said that their children are their universe and they look forward to spending the rest of their lives with them.

In North Carolina and other parts of the nation, the trend is moving toward saving time and saving money during divorce proceedings. This can be achieved when both parties are in full agreement to navigate their separation as peacefully as possible. When both sides have an experienced family law lawyer on their side, this can also help to quicken the divorce process and ease tensions throughout the proceedings.
