Man arrested after hiring hit man to kill ex-wife

When a couple who has children divorces in North Carolina, there can be a lot of tension and disagreements over who will have custody of the children and the amount of child support required. Although these circumstances are less than ideal, there is no reason for domestic violence of any kind.

A 33-year-old man who allegedly turned to violence as an attempted way out of the child support and custody battle in which he was engaged with his ex-wife is now behind bars. In an attempt to uncover any negative information he could about his ex-wife to help him in his child support case, the man hired a private investigator in August. Evidently the man grew tired of trying to dig up dirt on his ex-wife, because he asked the private investigator if he knew of anyone that could kill his ex-wife. Authorities say that the man thought killing his wife would save him financially.

The man met with an undercover sheriff’s detective in a parking lot and offered to pay him $30,000 to kill his wife. The man was arrested and charged with attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation and solicitation to commit murder. He could spend 26 years to life in prison if convicted.

This type of violence is never warranted in child support and child custody cases. If you have been the victim of violence from your ex-spouse, you would be well advised to consult with a family law attorney. Doing so can ensure that your interests are protected.
