Tim Porterfield is a seasoned attorney with more than 25 years of courtroom litigation experience. As the owner of a solo practice since 1997, he has managed every aspect of firm operations-including financial oversight, staff supervision, and compliance-while handling high-volume caseloads and complex family law matters.
Licensed in Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and North Carolina, he has extensive experience litigating contested issues involving custody, property division, and high-conflict disputes. His background includes preparing witnesses, conducting depositions, developing trial notebooks, and drafting post-trial orders. Since 2008, he has also served as a Licensed Parent Coordinator, supporting judges in cases involving emotionally charged parties and applying legal statutes to facilitate resolution.
With a foundation in finance and a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law, he brings strong analytical skills, deep trial experience, and a commitment to fair, lawful adjudication. He is currently expanding his expertise in immigration law through ongoing CLE coursework, reinforcing his dedication to upholding the integrity of the legal system and supporting those who contribute to the nation’s well-being.
