Charlie Sheen refuses to pay child support to Denise Richards

Many divorced couples in Ballantyne, North Carolina labor under the false belief that if their ex fails to hold up his or her end of the bargain, that means they don’t have to either. For example, it is not uncommon to hear about a woman who won’t allow her ex-husband to see their children because he is behind on child support payments. This may seem like a good plan to get back child support, but it can actually backfire because the court will consider withholding legally ordered visitation to be a violation.

Charlie Sheen seems to be trying this tactic on ex-wife and mother of his two daughters, Denise Richards recently. Although the 48-year-old actor has been ordered to pay Richards $55,000 a month in child support for his 9- and 8-year-old daughters, he has not made a payment since January. Sheen says he will not pay because the 43-year-old Richards has not let him see the girls. He is also threatening to sell the home he bought for Richards and the girls in 2011 for the purpose of having them near him.

Richards is reportedly planning on pursuing a case against Sheen in court for the unpaid child support.
